Birchbox continues to increase its efforts on retail store expansion, boosting recent staff expansion in the past year and now naming industry veteran Philippe Pinatel (pictured) as president and chief operations officer.

Pinatel comes to Birchbox with nearly 20 years of experience at Sephora and Guerlain International, and a track record of building fast-growing, large-scale retail operations. He will lead several core functions at Birchbox, including merchandising, product development, retail, operations and international, with a focus on strategic growth and reinforcing the company as a major beauty retailer.

“Philippe is a proven operator with exceptional experience driving revenue for some of the biggest beauty brands in the business,” said Katia Beauchamp, co-founder and CEO of Birchbox. “His leadership, deep industry expertise and multi-faceted skill set will be instrumental in further scaling Birchbox throughout 2016 and beyond. I’m thrilled to have Philippe on board to help us realize the next chapter of our multi-billion dollar vision.”

In the past year, Birchbox has hired a team of retail leaders to develop and execute a strategic vision for its brick-and-mortar expansion in 2016. These key new hires from major brands include Douglas Simpson, vice president of retail; Ben Fay, vice president of retail development & customer experience; and Andrew Lande-Shannon, design director of offline retail.
